It's True! Over the last 10 years there have been very few times when my bike sat for more than 2 weeks straight! Surprisingly, I hear that a large constituency of riders have already tucked their machines away in anticipation of warmer days when we haven't yet even had a good rain in Southern Oregon! For me, this is the season when the riding just starts getting really good. Fall colors become more vibrant with the first freeze, rain will keep dust down and back roads a lot tighter, and with the exception of a few good ole boys who hunt, the back country becomes a private playground, for your exploration, equipped with an occasional fire to warm yourself by and stories about the one that got away! Talk about battery tenders, fuel stabilizers, will get you nothing but a blank stare from the true adventurist. It is as if they wonder if you are really for real! You will never hear a true explorer talk about how they are going to farkle their bike in the off season as if Christmas has already come in October! No, they are the ones who traditionally ride on Thankgiving Day and are late for dinner or, they are the one's who wait in anticipation for their favorite upgrades to appear under the Christmas tree, ripping past the yule tide greeting card and then running to the garage to check out how it's going to look before anyone else has opened their gifts. Don't worry, they'll be back!
I would suggest that if you are a die hard motorcycle enthusiast, regardless of what you ride, You are not gonna want to miss what is already out there waiting for you.
Keep your battery in the bike and just maybe you'll get to see some of these things because in Oregon - Riding season never ends!
